Disthron's Dos Games
A downloadable game for Windows
This is the second game I ever programmed, and the first one I ever finished. Back in year 11, I was taking computer class and our we learned basic programming. On my own initiative I decided to take what we had learned in class and made a simple text adventure. It was like other text adventures with turn based combat, involving selecting options and dice rolls. When I showed my teacher, he basically dismissed it not being a game, requiring no 'skill'. Though this was a bit off considering the turn based JRPGs I'd played up to that point.
However, after that meeting, I started working on this game. Over time I built this game. I worked on it from around the middle of 1998 until the end of the year, and off and on again until around 2001. Towards the end of the year, I showed my teacher the game and he was super impressed with what I had done. The next year, I was hanging out in the computer lab one lunch and I saw a girl from another class working on what looked like a card game. I asked her about it and she told me that as an assignment in computer class they had to make a game.... I'm pretty sure I was responsible for that.
I have uploaded the original DOS version for people to play, if they're wanting the authentic 1998 experience. I've tried to make it as easy to play as possible. I created a portable dosbox config. Just unzip the folder and run the Bomber_dosbox-x.exe. If everything goes well it should go straight into the game.
Out Now! The Windows version has a number of quality of life features. The movement is much smoother, and the game dose not pause when anything shoots. There are also a few more animations and some extra buildings.
